Switching between layout pages?
Is there an easy/fast way to switch between layout pages that are not next to each other?
Going from 1st floor to basement and the pages are 1 and 7.
I know typing in the number and using the project browser.
Would be handy to have a switch to tab w can set...........

In the box that shows the page number you can just type in "7" and then enter and it should jump to page "7"..... at least I think this will work....

Ooooh....a short cut key stroke - like....CTRL/Shift and the page number you want to go to.
That would be fun.Chris Fenstermaker

That does work but I was looking for a quicker way if we have one.
Sort of like how we can set the reference display floor #..
Sure other people run into this...........

If you click on the page number button that appears on the default toolbar, this will open the Go To Layout Page dialog. This will allow you to jump to any layout page without having to go to each one.
It would be nice if there was an even faster alternative. What would be really nice is if we had an interface like powerpoint where you could navigate the layout pages with a little preview window and then click on the one you want to go to.Dermot Dempsey

Maybe Dermot's comment was a veiled X4 teaser!

Here are some hot key alternatives.
There is a hotkey available for changing layout page. I prefer single press hot keys rather than chords (eg: control-p). "L" is available but you may want to select a key on the far left side of the keyboard ( like "A") if your mouse is in your right hand.
I have also added a usb keypad to the left side of my keyboard which is velcro'd to an inclined piece of hardboard along with my keyboard.
Now to take it a step farther you can use a programmable gaming keyboard with extra programmable keys. (18 keys on the left side) You can assign your hotkeys or keystroke combinations (keystroke macros) to these extra keys.
Don't let the word "programmable" scare anybody off, this is very user friendly.
So to use this method just hit the hotkey A, then the page number, then enter. Now lets get it down to just one keypress.
Since there are 18 keys available you could use 12 keys to represent layout pages from 1-12. (leaving 6 keys for other stuff) Assign your hotkey along with a "number" and "enter" for each key.Rob Fisher

I wrote code in 1984 to make my Sinclair 100 - so I used to be a programmer! So I can say with authority how easy it is to program Chief features! ;-)

And if you could change the order of pages by just dragging the page to a new position... now that would be really cool!
But before any of you get all excited, this will not be a feature in X4. It's something that has been on our todo list for awhile but it will take a bit of work to do so it's not going to happen anytime soon. As much as I would like to work on this, we have other things that are a higher priority that we need to work on first.Dermot Dempsey

I use dual monitors and keep the Library docked on the secondary screen.
If you go to the Project browser, all the layout sheets will be stacked accordingly while the Library window is open.
While it's easy to navigate the pages this way...it's probably equally fast to toggle the number tab on the tool bar.Val
