Funny shading in 3d View
I am doing an apartment building rendering which is the first real project since upgrading to X3 in December -- I am getting this odd shading issue and I need to send a snapshot off to the cleint ASAP - my video card is a NVDIA GTX580 that did very well in my previous Chief Versions.
Thoughts?
Please ignore the colour scheme - I noticed this issue while setting up the snap shot.

Make sure your video card drivers are up to date (it is a video card problem).
What video card do you have please?
I saw some shading like that back in Beta Testing on my old machine that had a 512Mb card but not since I rebuilt my PC and upgraded the card.

It may also happen because of thin finishing layers on walls and roofs. You may either prefer increasing the thickness of these layers, or raytracing the view if this is the cause.

Thanks Dave,
I have another two story that I'm working on that looks just fine when in the same function. Is there a chance I've done something in this project to mess up the lighting? (attachment - ignore the fact that the plan I attached is a nasty design - some clients!!!!)

solved
I just cut and paste the entire file into another empty template and all is well except the defaults are all messed up. So it is something to do with that file and that file only.

that did very well in my previous Chief Versions.

I was also thinking z-fighting. Search the forum for "z fighting." I know there's a thread here somewhere because I started one last year with a similar question.

Absolute zero is the bottom left hand corner of the building -
I did end up cutting and pasting the plan into another and thought I had it licked. Oddly enough the siding was great but the roof shingles were still bad but not as bad --
I'll check this z-fighting issue next I guess.

Sure enough - it was the material thickness... changed it from 1/8" to 1/4" and all is well.
And to think I dismissed Portrait's initial response as I was thinking "how could that be?"....
Thanks all,
