creating new layout templates in x1
Hi all,
I don't do much with layouts and usually just use one of the standard templates when I do.
I decided to create my own A3 template for presentation print outs. I thought I liked the general info on one of the A1s and decided to use that as a reference.
I created a cad detail view and created the template. By this stage I didn't have a clue what to do next.
My end result was copying that detail onto a new blank A3 and saving it as a new layout.
That works fine, however, I note that with the original templates, they are locked, whereas if I click on any element of mine, I can still edit the individual parts.
What is the correct way of building your own layout template from scratch?Chief Bug Fix Department

Rod,
I'm not sure why you are doing a cad detail?
Just draw (or copy) straight onto the layout.
You can then lock any layout layers you want.Glenn

thanks Glenn,
it's how it rolled out. Initially, I was fiddling around trying to work out how to unlock the original template items, I couldn't actually see any of the layers locked.Chief Bug Fix Department

Scott,
I think that may be the clincher. I opened up my newly created template and it opened on page 1 rather than zero. So I guess I got myself all in a knot wondering why the template wasn't locked when on page 1.Chief Bug Fix Department
