    Angled Molding

I'm designing a house with a stuccoed fascia. I can use a Soffit or a Molding Polyline to show this on the eaves but neither tool will work on gables. The problem with the soffit is that as soon as you change it to an Angled Soffit it loses the molding. This was true in v.8 too. I like the Molding Polyline because the molding is seamless at corners (e.g hips), but I can't set it to an angle for the gable end.

I would like to view the fascia in 3D at the gables and also not have to use CAD to draw the fascia in on the elevations.

I thought that I could attach a molding to a Polyline Solid but I don't see how to.

Is there anything that a molding attaches to that can be set at an angle?

    Any other suggestions?

Hi Don and Don. Here is an idea. Dean suggested doing it this way.

"Look at the new symbol maker, you can rotate 90 along any axis.

Make a molding along a line.

Take a cross section of the molding

    unlock layer 9

shift-select and copy the cross section

touch the points of the new polyline to connect the segments.

next you need to reverse and flip the profile.

    add this to molding library

Starting at (0,0) draw a line at the same angle as the pitch of the roof.

assign the new molding to the line.

make a 3D overview and export to 3D dwg

Open the symbol developer and import as millwork

Rotate the dwg about x by 90 or as required.

complete the symbol and you now have a gable molding to match the eaves molding.

    Dean"

    I hope this helps!
