    Chief toe kicks are incorrect

I just realized that the chief toe kicks are incorrect. THey are 4" and industry standard is 4 1/2". I thnk this is a bug or at least incorrect.
The fluted cabinets in the picture are Medallion.

We typically use 4" toe kicks, but can't we change them to 4-1/2" if we want?

    Scott,

What do you mean when you say "use"? Are you referring to designing or an actual cabinet?

Yes they can be changed but why should we have to change nevery cabinet to be correct?

I guess I am referring to the design and the actual cabinet. I do not think you have to change every cabinet if you set it up in your base cabinet defaults to whatever ht. you want. Am I missing something?

I didn't think of setting the default cabinet with a 4 1/2" toe kick. Let me give that a try.

Since when has the standard toe kick gone to 4 1/2" in height? I've been in construction since 1972 building and designing homes, building custom cabinets for kitchens and have always used a 4" height by 3" deep toe kick.

    Kickin the Toe Kick

Just went around the showroom. Checked 25 cabinets. 4" toe kick is on 80%. There were some with 4-1/4" and a few with 4-1/2".
Same manufacturer had 4-1/4" and 4-1/2" units. But it's not a specification option when ordering any of them.
Kitchen Designer simply said "it is what it is". Only specified when it's going to be handicapped accessible cabinetry/kitchen.

I'd resort to calling 4" a common size. Regardless of what Chief shows.

*sigh* Our burgers are gettin bigger an our toe kicks are gettin smaller.

I checked with my supplier and she said 4 1/2" toe, 30" box is the standard. I always thought it was 4" also. Time to get out the measuring tape!

I hate it when I have cynical thoughts, but here's one. We already know they've been reducing the size of boxes of cereal, cans of food, etc. If they increase the toe kick by 1/2" and the counter is the same height - they just reduced the size of the cabinet! Sigh.

I think the 4 1/2" toe kick is for all the construction workers with their steel toe shoes.

    Toe Kicks

Isn't it great that Chief is so flexible? I worked at a company with 4 cabinet lines. we had three different "standard" toekick sizes
