    Priinting image is all black

Hi, I'm a real newbie, struggling with most stuff, but happpily making progress.

I cannot print images at all without black areas where the images should be. It is the same with Canon MP 850 fairly new inkjet as with an older HP 1220 C 13x19 printer (also Inkjet).

My computer is Toshiba Vista 32 bit, processor Dual Core T5500, 1.66 GHz.

Using Chief X2 - for about 3 weeks.

Finally upgraded from Chief 8 - never had any issues with printing any graphics - ever.

I can easily print plans in line, color and B+W, 11x17 and other sizes - just no images.

The search at Chiefarchitect.com or the forum here yielded little and no actual help.

Surely would like to print images.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you very much,

    Larry:

there are many threads about this on this forum

it is usually a video card issue ?

have you updated the drivers ?

you may need to contact tech support on Tuesday

    Larry,

Is it the entire image or just one part of the image always in the same place?

The issue is the [IBM] Intel Video card. It happens with X2 and Win7 all the time too. I have to change the way X2 starts up and use 'standard color scheme' or something like that. Lew is right, Chieftalk has the steps listed on one of these threads.

This is a known issue with Intel graphics on Vista and Win 7. They fixed the problem in June and have updated their graphics driver.

Good catch Dan. I did mean Intel, my bad and I corrected it for future searches.

By the way. My laptop has 'the latest' per Windows...it is a 9/23/2009 "mobile 945 express chip set driver" and still has all these problems. Do you think Intel will update their mobile chip set drivers soon?

    Thanks

Intel fixed the issue in June 2010. But they don't support all their hardware with the new driver. The only other solution is to disable visual themes and desktop composition on the compatibility tab for the program.

It's unfortunate that they don't really support their graphics systems very well. This is the main reason we will continue not supporting or recommending intel graphics.

Try to turn off hardware edge smoothing in the preferences, render dbx. Sometimes that works for some.
