Problem Wall/Roof Cut
I wrote about this problem last week and Lew said I should make support aware of the problem. I still am not sure the problem is not me (im almost never sure of that), but I can usually figure it out after hours and hours of toying around. This one has me stumped. I can not get the gable wall between a great room vaulted ceiling and an upstairs bath to generate properly. I obviously need the outside to show siding and the inside to be drywall, but I just dont seem to be able to get it to work. I did have it working in X2 and to the best of my knowledge have not touched the walls since opening the file in X3. In X3 the siding does not seem to see the roof properly. I have deleted and re-drawn, pulled back and re-snapped, ect, ect. If its just me, I appologise. But tech support did not seem to get the problem resolved either. If anyone here can help, I would gladly take you out for a nice dinner if your ever in South East Wisconsin.
Did I mention I have a GOTO meeting with the client in 12 hours?
Thanks,
MIke Ellis

Posting the plan would be huge.
Off hand it looks like an issue with wall layers needing to be turned around and/or pony-walls not built correctly.

In this I set the second floor wall to pony wall with the proper upper and lower walls.
Then I had to split the wall in two to make the bottom and top halves go at a diagonal.
Seems to work fine.

No, the zip didn't work. You need to be out of the file when zipping or no information will be in the zip file.
No worries, just zip it again and resend.

Sorry,
I think I still had the layout open. I had to strip it down a little to get the size down.
Thanks

It looks like the problem is with your ceiling planes on the first floor. They are cutting into that wall above and suppressing it from generating up to the second floor the way it should. Toggle your reference and pull the ceiling planes back out from under that wall above them.
Also, no need to do a Pony wall. Just select that wall and on the Roof tab check "Lower wall type if split by butting roof" and then select Interior 6 and it should all be fixed up.
Not sure you really even need the ceiling planes in that situation.

Bryce,
Thanks a lot for your help. I was able to fix the problem with your help. I did have to delete the wall first, then it made an attic wall, then I de-selected it from attic wll and it worked. I think I had to roll it back for enough that it would recognize the change? I dont know, but it worked. I cant tell you what this site and people like you mean to me and my business. I will continue to try and grow my knowledge and give back as you and the usual bunch do. I was serious about the free dinner, it would be my pleasure if your ever in the state. Now, on to other problems... I mean solutions. Now I have a problem with a window.
Sincerely,
Mike Ellis
