    Measuring an existing room

I just purchased X2 and formerly used KCDW to create cabinets and rooms. I am a bit, and that's a understatement, on laying out the walls, doors and windows. How should I measure existing rooms and the doors. Should I just measure from end of wall to edge of trim?

I measure wall surface to wall surface. Then when I draw the plan in Chief, I set my dimensions to be Surface (dimension defaults - locate objects tab).

For cabinets, I would measure my windows at the frame, then outside of trim to outside of trim as well. In the dimension defaults, same tab - openings - casings. Set the casing defaults for windows to be the most typical, then adjust per window for any odd balls.

I wrote code in 1984 to make my Sinclair 100 - so I used to be a programmer! So I can say with authority how easy it is to program Chief features! ;-)
