    ramps with railings

    i am doing a residence that is requiring a ramp down to the grade off a deck. how now brown cow??????

    If you have SSA and you are brave, then you can download the X3 beta version and use the new ramp tool. If not, then you might want to do a search on this forum for "ramp" to find a work-around that might work for you.

    its funny you should pop this question, i was only wondering about this one myself the other day.

    my barnstorming ideas (and i say barnstorming because the brain wasnt helping out much) were,

    1. since you can get a railing or fence to follow terrain, i wondered about creating a polyline solid and converting it to terrain. then play with the elevation data in terrain to get a straight ramp. perhaps the railing would follow that with the follow terrain option selected.

    2. use a roof plane and set its pitch to the upslope angle you want.

    3. create a box and edit the two xy plane options till you get the angle of upslope you are after. how the railing goes onto it i havent a clue (autocad the sucker)!
