    Steve,
If you want to show 2-2x's, you have to select all the sill plates, lock the top, change their depth to 1 1/2", copy/paste in place, then while the copies are still selected, move 'em down 1 1/2".

    Thanks, Jim

I'm trying to figure out why someone would WANT to use a double mudsill. We use 3x6's & 3x8's around here because of shear nailing, but have never seen a double.

We use 2 here, first one PT and the second regular lumber.
Have done just 1 PT 2x6 because the builder was cheap.

Think it is easier to straighten out the sill with double rather than one solid piece.
I like to nail it to the foundation besides the bolts.

    Might be a location thing.

Allen you are spot on,besides if I draw it as a single 3x6 the frammer will
1.search for them in the lumber pile
    2. wont find them
    3.go have breakfast
4.leave me a voice mail saying he cant start, and has gone to another job

    thanks all

Steve why would you draw it as a 3x6? I program it in so the elevations are correct. Then I indicate that it's a DBL sill on the plans, especially in the section detail, Heck my dads been using dbl sills since 1948, back then ...no PT thought. I think the only place we don't use dbl's is on a garage wall where the block is above floor level.
Allen has the right idea about 1 and 1 unless size makes a difference, width wise, as PT 2x's are usually wider than a DF 2X

I remember when we didn't use PT sills or for decks..
Had to use house insulation because they didn't make sill seal back then..
    Am I getting old?

Must be a Northeastern thing. I have been in the industry since '86 or so....and the only time I see them is from a New Englander.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
