    Room Definition

How do you define rooms without an invisible wall? My dining, kitchen, living are all one space but with different ceilings. I used invisible walls but it screws up base boards and bleeds through soffits. I would attach a screen shot but do not know how to do that either...

You have to use invisible walls. If you're then having problems with baseboards, turn them all off (by making 0" high) and create manually with a Molding Polyline. You'll have to adjust it manually when you change room sizes, but that's faster than banging your head against the wall, giving yourself a concussion and having to go to the hospital!

I wrote code in 1984 to make my Sinclair 100 - so I used to be a programmer! So I can say with authority how easy it is to program Chief features! ;-)

Try drawing a railing and switching it to invisible. Works in X2, not sure about your version. Hey, what version are you using anyway? Sometimes it matters.

Allen, what is the difference between an invisible beam and an invisible wall. Do they behave differently? Is there another scenario where you would use an invisible beam. I thought CA is discouraging the use of the invisible beam. I have never used it, can you tell me how you use it? Thanks.

That's left over from 3D home Architect days.
I had not used them in a long time.
Tried it this morning and the baseboard did not get effected, not sure is ceiling edge molding will.

I wish Chief would implament this the way Archicad does. In Archicad you simply draw a closed polyline and define it as an area. That way there is no possable conflicts in the structure and you can color these areas without a white space between.

Why should we have to go throught the trouble of manually fixing the baseboard. It's been a glitch forever. Chief should just fix it. Frustrating.

Can you give us an example of this problem. I am not sure I have experienced this, maybe I have.

    Scott,

You don’t recall any problems with invisible walls cutting into base molding?

You could fill it in with a polyline solid. Yes, another work-around.
