Layers Turned Off, Yet Still Snapping
In the past, I have been creating multiple files for different iterations for clients. What I'd like to do is simply create a bunch of layers for iteration 1, layers for iteration 2, etc.
Ex. if we are adding a garage to an existing home, I can simply leave on the existing home layers an switch from the iteration 1 layers to the iteration 2 layers.
The problem I'm having is that when I turn off the iteration 1 layers, it will still snap to the layers turned off. As well, if I draw a wall the happens to cross a wall from the turned off layer, it breaks the wall in two.
Any suggestions to creating multiple iterations in one plan file?Aaron, Lead Designer

Any suggestions to creating multiple iterations in one plan file?
It can't be done, multiple walls can't occupy the same space
It is impossible to make a room completely invisible
"true" layer/layerset control has been requested,
maybe X3 or X4 or ... ???
each alternative needs to be in a separate plan and that can lead to duplication of effort, mistakes, and general headaches.

You always need to keep in mind that by assigning walls on a different layer and turning that layer off doesn't mean that the wall is not there anymore. You just turned it off to display. It's still there. Layers are in "display" options. Display.
