Custom Windows...
I had several windows I found online that I wanted to make into custom windows. I followed the symbol making process and no problems.
Then when I inserted the windows into the walls in 2d everything looked great. When I went to view it in 3d the window was sticking out six inches away from the outside wall but in 2d looked fine?
What am I missing?Chad Cardin

Chad
You have to change the origin.
Open the window with the "Open symbol" tool.
Might help if you place one from the library that works and see what that is set at...........

I have found no rhyme or reason as to how the origin is set, when re-setting symbols.
For me, you just need to "install" it, then take section cuts to see what it takes to get the 3D solid where it needs to be, relative to its bounding box and the need. Once determined, I bring it back in with the appropriate x, y, and z, then library it.
Maybe there is a better way.Gene Davis

Ok thanks guys for the input. Yeah like I said Ive never done this before with custom windows so I was like WHAT THE HECK is the window doing six inches out in front of the wall in 3d. I will play with that origins box and hopefully find out which box is the right one!
Thank you!Chad Cardin

I tried it last night and it appears I have to start all over. When I moved the window up or down there is a small space between the stucco, which means I didnt cut the wall right. Im determined to get this right!!
