    Odd Roof

I have an as built that has an odd situation. I am wondering if there is a way to fool Chief to make it do this. The building is deeper than it is wide but the ridge runs parallel to the short distance. The front slope is also two pitches. A shallow one at the start and a steeper one at the top.

    Thanks

select the wall that is two pitches and open its dbx. set the lower pitch, check the box for second pitch, enter its value, and how high up you want it to start(this distance is to the top of the rafter)

I did the two pitches. What I can't get Chief to do is make the ridge run the short direction. How do I do that?

Did you select the long walls and tell them they are gables?

The other part of this I should have mentioned is that it is an all hip roof.

Try drawing an 18'wideX 20' deep building with 2 pitches on the front side. The lower pitch extends about 3' into the building, then goes to the steeper pitch. This is an all hip roof. The ridge runs parallel to the 18' walls and is about 2' long.

I just figured it out! You can auto build this roof. Do you know how? Try it you'll like it.

    Thanks for all the help!

I think I was having a brain lapse.

Yes, I know you can autobuild this type of roof..that is why I posted to use the second pitch...you can make shed roofs or barn roofs easily with this feature
