slow & painful polyline solid fascia molding

I needed to create the attached fascia molding for a current project. After a little research I decided using a p-solid was the best way to go. I hope I was wrong! What a pain in the &*^%! The polyline solid was not that bad to use but the time it took to render the cross sections as I edited the molding and made my way around the building started to approach 30 min each time I made an edit! I have a pretty fast computer and I tried back clipping and low detail, but nothing I tried helped? I am hoping there is a better way.
