    Trapezoid Windows.

Am I able to make windows that are parallel to two roof planes?

These are windows in a gable end with the roof over and a roof under...

I sketched an image of how the windows would be arranged.....

Chief Architect Help Database - Article Number: 36 didn't really answer my question.

I know how to make them follow the roof plane on the top edge of the window - but can I also change the bottom?

    This plan is in V10.

    Thank you.

I think that top window at the peak there would likely require a custom made window.

Yes Bryce - it would....can that be easily done in V10?

Depends on what you mean by easily, and how familiar you are with importing custom symbols to V10. I don't think it will be easy to model the window in V10, but if you can model it in Sketchup Pro or some other modeler that can export to DWG (3d) or one of the other formats that V10 accepts then that can be imported as a custom window symbol. But without experience doing this, you may find it time-consuming.

With X1 and above's Sketchup compatibility, this is greatly simplified (at least in my opinion).

Hmmm..you say the plan is V10, but your signature says X1. Working on this for someone else in V10?

    Bryce. Thank you

Yes, I agree X1 is much more fluid in generating and importing new 3D items.

Although - I've never used SU...

Yes, this is for a regular client who still uses V10...(so, it's a bit of a drag).

I have 3 right now on the table for this client in 10. Along with 7 projects in X1.

Thanks for the help folks. I appreciate it.

And there's two big house designs waiting "in the wings".

This is probably a case where your best bet would be to hire one of the accomplished symbol makers to make your custom window -- unless you've got the time and patience right now to put into learning Sketchup from scratch yourself! (something I keep meaning to do but so far haven't quite gotten around to....)

Not too bad. This is what I did - in Chief 10....

It'll be good enough for now

OK....here is a final rendering of those windows. I tweaked them a little more...all in Chief. It worked pretty well.....
