Block roof framing, wont display in 3d

I would like to use the auto frame function for roofs, and save framing in individual roof planes, yet still use the auto roof frame function. My method is block the framing I want to save,put it on another layer, then continue with auto roof frame and save the framing in other roof planes in this way as I go along. I delete auto framing appearing in planes Ive already framed and blocked. The problem is that in order to display this blocked framing in 3d, it seem I have to unblock it. Is there a better way?

I'm not sure what the question is exactly, but I am sure the blocked framing will not display in 3d. Why not turn off auto roof frame once you have the framing as you want it?

I have many different roof planes (patios with exposed beams as an example) that will have different exposed framing looks.
