angle wall measuring
I have a crazy existing building with lots of angles. Very few walls are actually perpendicular to each other. MY problem is dimensioning these angled walls.
I want to pick up the wdw and door opngs in dimensions along the walls. I trace over with interior wall dim. tool and it won't pick up the dimension. Sometimes I can get a full dimension but I need to place the opngs correctly in the walls. Anyone have any tips how to measure angled walls with openings?
Really need help in order to layout this floorplan. Should I work in some other program like sketchup then transfer into Chief or what? Forgot to mention I'm using Chief 10.08.

I often use the "Point to Point" measuring tool for such matters or even CAD Lines and turn off "Angle Snaps" to support drawing off-angle dimensions.

I use the end to end tool to start with.Add places where it picks up.
What is nice about X2 is you can have strings with different formats.
They can round of to the nearest 1/4" so you do not have 1/16" showing...........

"Does X2 have better measuring capability for angle walls?"
Yes.
Not that much better but X2 is generally a dream compared to X1 or V 10 no matter what you are doing.

My default dimension tool is "point to point". I then drag the " new items" box on that that line to new items I wish to dimension with that line. I rarely use the primary dimension tool, because it usually catches items I don't want.
If nothing works, you may have to place some point markers or cad lines and dimension to them.Leslie Sapp
