text problems
Hi, is anyone having this problem, or can anyone help.
In X2, with text, it seems to disappear half of what is written.
eg: if the text says, " lintel fixing type "G"
it will be fine for a while, then later it will only read, "lintel fixing "
it happens using rich text, and I think also standard text.
To fix it, I group select all of the text, open then close, and it is fixed. Then maybe half an hour later, it is bad again.
It has been happening basically since I started on X2.
I am mainly using Arial Narrow.
Vista 64
I tried changing the margins around the text, doesn't seem to work.
It is happening in basically every plan.
Thanks,

I do not have this problem.
I do not use the "Rich Text" tool for text either.
I have seen other posts complaining of Rich Text problems so I just use Rich Text sparingly and thus have had no problems at all.
To be totally honest I rarely use the Rich Text tool; I am glad we have it; I do not like that it is automatically set as the default since I avoid using it.
It is one of the newest tools in X2 and needs some smoothing out.
If you can duplicate with regularity this text problem sending a bug report will help one and all.
I just avoid the whole issue by limiting my use of it.

Make sure you have 'Auto ht & Auto width' checked in the Rich text dbx 'options' tab. It sounds like your default text box size is set too small

I would be happy to not use it, as a main tool, I agree I do not like the arrow layer is set to the rich text, (this is only because I am having problems) Auto Height and Width were checked, could it be something to do with the font, it seems to sit down lower than some other fonts.

Glad they are working on it - I have had this problem as well.
For what it's worth, I agree with the notion of giving US the choice of text or rich text when we use the leader tool. The rich text seemed like such a blessing at first, but it's created some trouble as well.Rich C. SDSInc

I am so glad someone else is having this problem.... it can be stressful - I have to print to PDF as I can't find a driver for my printer / 64 bit Vista computer, and just as often as not, the text is a problem.

I have also had this problem, and have stopped using rich text. I sent in a bug report, together with a file, layout and pdf illustrating the problem.
It would probably be most helpful to the software troubleshooters if you could send a file illustrating the problem in to technical support - hopefully they will be more able to identify the issue with several files to assist .......

I am trying to print a job now, the only way I can fix it, is to group select everything that has been written and sent to the layout page, open it then close it. It seems to fix it temporarily, but by the time I get to the end of the layout pages, I have to start again. It is frustrating, I need to print this to PDF to email away. If I increase the the margins around the text, then the fill cuts off areas I want to show. I will just keep doing it until it works. That is what I have been doing. It seems to work eventually, - very frustrating and time consuming. I didn't notice this when I first was using C X2. I have stopped using rich text as a main tool, but have all these other projects that were created with using it. It is easier to use it as a main tool as the arrow layer is attached to it rather than standard text. This is a real problem.

Tim,
Can I suggest that before you 'repair' the text, zip the file, and also print the faulty layout to pdf - then send the whole lot to technical support.
The sooner they can fix this, the better - and having several examples from different people will assist them in zeroing in to the root cause of the problem.
I fixed my text issues by double-clicking each text box, then simply closing the box. However, I'm not confident that this is a permanent fix.
Regarding using standard text - I agree that there should be an option to attach arrows as default .... very frustrating!
Good luck!

Lenita,
thanks, you are right, I will do this, I had also prepared a before and after PDF to attach, I just never got around to reducing its size to post. I realised that by turning the print preview off and on you can see the text changing back and forth.Tim Grindlay
