Problems with printing layout
Ok, this is one for the bad words.
I am 1 hour from a client meeting where I am presenting a revised design for their home, and I can't get anything to print! I have an 11x17 layout, and everytime I print it just sits and does nothing. I checked my printer settings in the layout print dbx, and they were all changed! I set them as they should be, tried printing, and still nothing. I closed the file, opened again, and the settings were wrong again!
I am going to try a brand new layout file, in case the current template is corrupted, but if anyone has any suggestions, I could use some help with this.Rod Kervin

If a picture is worth a thousand words, and a video is worth a thousand pictures, then uploading the chief file is worth a thousand videos.

Be sure that your printer settings match the settings in the page set up in Chief. Also be sure that you have the correct printer set as default in the layout page set up. Just guessing here. I always print from a pdf. If you're using X2, try not running as administrator if your settings in the page set up don't stick. MANY TIMES I can't even access the layout page set up if I'm running as administrator. However, I can always access it if I don't run as administrator. Hope you figure it out.

Sorry. I don't have a plotter so I'm probably not much help. Louis does but he always works it out with his plotter.

Is that the big red button
Not quite
I think I would push it before I tried taping letter size together, a real PITA and won't impress the client at all
Dan/Doug rhave recommend this as a possible fix many times
flush out the printer info and then change your print dbx as needed
are you printing straight to the printer or to PDF ???
It is recommended to create PDF first, cures lots of printer "issues"

Rebooting the computer can sometimes help with printing problems.

The printer/plotter doesn't need to "know" anything extra to print a pdf (I'm pretty sure). It just adds a step.
1. Print to a pdf driver at the paper size you want. Examine the pdf for any errors. If it looks like you want, then your Chief print settings are probably good.
2. Print the pdf with your printer/plotter.
With this method, if there are errors in the print/plot, you know it is the hardware's fault, because the pdf is correct.Last edited by Dave Pitman; 07-29-2009 at 07:20 AM.
