    drfault settings

How do I set default floor materials and the make the stair treads to a solid material. I can change the floor materials and the tread materials after I have drawn some rooms or a set of stairs. What I want to do is change them permanently in the plan file so I always have the materials I selected when I start a new drawing. The edit\defaults\materials does not allow me to edit anything. Thanks.

Default Settings, Materials, then start changing them within your template plan.

I can't change materials in default settings\materials. It does not allow me to edit materials. It also doesn't all me to edit other items listed there.

How do I access plan materials. Do you mean highlight a room and then set materials there. If that is what you mean I can do that but this has to be done every time I open a new plan. In prior versions I could set this in the default settings\materials and then save it so all new plans when opened were set the way I wanted it.

    What Rusty said:
    1. Open your template
    2. Default Settings/Materials/General Materials/Stair tread
    3. Save template

No change the materials in the default setting and save the plan as your default template

Let me try to explain again when I go to default settings\materials the program does not allow me to edit materials. Would like you to try this and see if you can, maybe a problem with my program. Also when you talk about the template do you mean the profile.plan, if so you have to make rooms and then highlight the room and open up the dbx box to edit materials. If you delete the walls before saving template you loose the changes. The template (profile.plan) would have to be saved with the walls drawn.

Default settings is in the top tool bar. Hover your cursor over it til you see it. Don't draw any walls, rooms, or anything else. Go to preferences to tell the program which plan is your template. You can modify the stock one or creat your own.

I don't have a clue what you are talking about, hover until I see default settings. None of this works. I know about the profile.plan and I know how to set the path in preferences but I still can't edit materials in default settings. Did you try doing it??

I would like someone to try going into default settings\materials and let me know if they can edit materials.

This as far as I can get. If you notice on the bottom the edit button is grayed out meaning it is not active and I can't edit. It must be a problem on my end. What do you think might be the problem?? See attached.
