Walls - The Deadly Combo
Does anyone have any suggestions about resolving any conflicts between walls that have been cut by a roof plane and walls bellow that intersect on the X Y axis?
Before confusing you any further, I better attach some pictures and a plan file to show you what I mean.
So far it looks like the combination of Open Below, Roof Cuts Wall at Bottom, auto generated walls and walls on floor below intersecting these is a DEADLY one.
I am very interested in any and all comments on the subject.
To make it easy on the majority of users of this forum, I used the Imperial template to demonstrate the problem.
Kind regards,

Radek,
Im so glad you posted this because I was going to do the same thing a couple days ago but didnt get around to it. I have the same issue but mine is just the part when you have the clerestory window part right along the bottom off that wall all the wall boards show and there is no clean way to demonstrate that architecture. Im hoping someone will post a great solution.
Thanks again for posting.Chad Cardin

Hi Chad, thank you for confirming there is a problem. I started to think I am the only one.
The silence has me worried, over 80 views and no reply...

Here you go. Set your open below based off the roof ridge height in an instance such as this.

Protruding Walls
Thank you very much for your time Rusty.
I will take a look at your file and see if I can figure out what everything you changed to get the results.
It looks like it is heading the right direction except the protruding walls on the lower roof. Did you see that?

You are very welcome.
Nah, I didn't see that. Just select default wall height and the roof will cut it.

So will that also eliminate the interior wall studs that show on the clerestory window walls too? Im hoping this will help the similar situation I have.

Heres the attachment... In this pic the roof is already built... however even when the roof wasnt built it still was showing through, not sure why it does this.

Looks like you need to check the opening location first, roof cuts wall at bottom, then manually edit if necessary. Check for crossed wall polylines too.

Also not sure what crossed wall polylines is? Sorry
Radek,

Click on a wall in 3d and look for a crossed wall polyline. As in a part where it overlaps itself. That causes all sorts of problems.

Thanks Rusty,
The thing is when you have those clerestory windows there are no real walls beneath it because its in the center of the ceiling and then that part is raised so Im unclear as to what walls I would align.Chad Cardin

Rusty,
Thank you so very much for all your help. I am slowly getting the picture.
Can you please confirm that all you did in the plan you attached was changing the Ceiling Height of the Living Room on the first floor and then changed the Floor to Top dimension for the 2nd floor windows?
Did you made any other changes?
It looks like it is working okay. I just want to make sure I understand this so I don't run into something else in my working model; which is little more complicated than the plan I posted here.
