    Don,

I keep a copy of the program installation files and a copy of the Data folder (usually Documents>Chief Architect X2 Data) on an external Hard Drive.

As a minimum, you should do this with all important computer stuff. If you can, rotate a couple external drives (with the backup copies on them) so that you can keep one of them in a different location, like a friends house.

Don, if you are looking for a program to actually keep your backups current, I have been using Good Sync (http://www.goodsync.com/) for over a year now, and it is quite good. You can use it for a few things for free, and purchase it if it is working for you.
