    Question Dimensioning in Elevations

We are seeking to improve dimensioning in elevation views, so I am gathering feedback about what people dimension (and would like to dimension) in elevations.

What do you, the user, dimension in an elevation?

Extra bonus points for posts with pictures.

Anything in particular? In a particular view? What are you measuring? Length & width? Or spacing center to center? All of the above?

When you measure the floor is it measure subfloor to subfloor? Also, with regards to roofs, is it ridges only or would you like to pick up those locations cut by the camera as well? What about ceiling heights? Anything in particular that you measure there?

Yes, a way to do this without Chief grabing everything on the vertical string.

    hi,

we have to show window sill & head heights on elevations so the ability to show these automatically would be great.

    thanks, brian

Heigth and width? You have height and width in any elevation. What else do you need to dimension on cabinetry?

    Hi Sarah,

    Down here for planning applications:

All floor and ceiling heights in relationship to a main elevation data point
    and each other.
Overall building height from ground level to highest point and other significant points in between - eave, boxed gutters, ridge, chimney, elevator shaft, etc
Height of building in relationship to boundary
Daylight (shading) heights from boundary (varies by compas points)
