    Missing floor

I have not used X2 for about 3 weeks, I have been using X1. And now I find that when I draw a new floor plan in X2 and do a render overview it does not show the floor unless I put a roof on the structure.

Am I missing something? I have checked that the floor layers are on.

Attached is a picture of a simple plan-but no floor.

I have the latest patch installed.

    Thanks,
    Tammy

Check the layer set you are using for the render view. You must have "Rooms" on in addition to "Floor Surfaces".

If you have a foundation, be sure default cad is on for renders. Are you sure the walls are closed? If not, you won't have a floor.

Is it designated 'open below' with a custom room name? Other than what was mentioned above, I am out of ideas.

    Warren,
I have both "rooms" and "floor surfaces" on. That is why I am confused.
Now if I put a roof on it, then the floor can be seen. ????

    Tammy,

Something is wrong with this file. It should go in to tech support. I'm able to get the floor to show by doing a variety of tweaks to the walls, but the tweaks are not repeatable.
After raising one of the walls in the render view, and then undoing the operation, the floor shows up. If I close the file and do the same trick, I cannot repeat.

I also was able to get the floor to show after moving one of the walls slightly, but cannot repeat that either.

On a third try, I deleted the "Chief Wrap" zero thickness wall layer, and the floor showed up in render. (What the heck do we need "Chief Wrap for anyway?) Can't repeat that either.

Did you bring the template forward from an older version? I guess you couldn't have, unless you imported the wall definitions.

Actually I did bring the default plan forward-then tweaked it and saved it. But I didn't even notice the Chief wrap. Nice way to throw some advertising in there-Huh.

Maybe I brought a ghost forward too!

I did make a bug report. But maybe I just need to start from scratch with a new template plan.
AWE! all those little details to get this one just perfect.......Oh well-back to the drawing board!

    Thanks for looking at it!

This is not a bug, You have unchecked auto rebuild walls floors and ceilings under 3D settings.

Simply clicking F12 in render or plan will also solve the problem.

Dan, I wish I could say that I hadn't tried that first. Yes, F12 works, but not always. I've noticed that, in many instances, hitting F12 does nothing when I know that it should. Perhaps that's the real bug.

In this case the problem was the result of unchecking auto rebuild. If you have other cases send them into support. If auto rebuild is checked you should never need to hit f12 - in the old days, 9.5 and eariler, we wore out the f12 key.

If f12 does not correct a problem it's not likely a rebuild problem but a result of another setting or perhaps a bug. These things should be sent to support so we can get them filed.
