    Hatching.. Plan to Layout??

    Call me dumb lol.. but..
When using CA10 I was able to send a plan to layout and have the walls show as a solid colour but in X1 they show as 2 lines with no fill. It is showing hatching.. like as in brickwork.. just not the fills.
I know I am missing something really simple.. but can someone tell me what it is??

A example of what I mean...

Plan from CA10 with solid fill..

Plan from X1 with no fill..

Check to see if "Wall Layers" is checked in the Layer Set for the view sent to Layout. (usually "Layout Set 2", or something similar)

If you have wall layers checked to display, the layers & hatching as defined in the wall def dbx display. If you turn wall layers off, & leave wall hatching displayed, the hatching displayed is the hatching you manually added to each wall. If you select "walls, main layer only", the main layer & the hatching for that layer as defined in the wall spec dbx & your added hatching display.
Check it out by playing in the Layer Display Options dbx.

Yep - post the plan. X1 does solid fill, shaded fill, whatever you want. My money is on you think you have Walls, Layers on, but you really don't.

I wrote code in 1984 to make my Sinclair 100 - so I used to be a programmer! So I can say with authority how easy it is to program Chief features! ;-)

I can't post the plan I am working on (it's 6.5MB).. But I have attached a new "box" that does the same thing.
I don't think it is "within" the plan. I am sure there is something I changed in CA10 to produce solid fill walls.. just can't seem to find it (or remember haha) in X1

    Roo,

Are you sure that you turned the "walls-layers" layer on in layout, not just in the plan? I don't see how posting a plan without the corresponding layout will tell anything.

If nothing else works, just delete the view from the layout page and re-send from the plan.

There was a layout file in the zip.
All the wall layers displayed per your wall def in the layout page just fine. You did have "color" turned off for the layout.
I don't know. looked good over here??

Well, I guess I should have looked at the file first. The layout did not appear to be associated with the plan. Didn't seem to matter... I'm seeing the grey wall fill in the layout. Maybe you need to turn print preview on to see it more clearly. I use a light grey background, and it does appear faintly.

    RooMeat,
You do have color turned off on the layout page, as Allen guessed. Could be your print settings. If you're printing b&w, your printer might be reading your very light grey wall fill as white. Newer printer drivers do that.
Try printing in gray scale, or darken your wall fill.
