    wrap around porch

    could anyone help me with creating a wrap around porch ,that has a roof over it supported by columns

    You could make the porch with invisible walls and use symbols for your columns. Columns are located in the Library > Fixtures > Millwork > Columns. Hope this helps.

    The roofs for such a porch are most often best done manually, mating their edges with the "Join Roofs" tool. Just make sure the roof poly-lines do not then encroach the second floor walls thus cutting them off.

    Railing

    Create a wall where you want the columns to be (outer edge of the porch), select the wall, open the wall, define it as a 'railing' on the "general" tab, go to "railing" specification tab and select "no rails" and "post to overhead beams". Define the roof details for the wall as you normally do. Build roof. If you want railings (in addition to columns), define appropriately.
