    Matching items command

Is there such a command as a "MATCH ITEM" command. I am a long time user of AutoCAD and am still not convinced CHIEF is a better program but trying to get past it.

I wouldn't try to compare whether Chief is "better" than ACAD, it's more an issue of whether it's more applicable to the product you're preparing. IMO, Chief is way better for my applications (residential and light commercial design) than ACAD, even though it still lacks many CAD tools.
The "match properties" tool has been on my wish list for a long time!! Many users have requested ART take more time developing a better array of CAD tools.....maybe in V9?????
    Just my two cents!

The best way to do this in Chief is to group select all of the objects you want to "match", open them for specification, and then change their properties to what you want. We are looking into adding a tool similar to the "match item" tool in future versions.
