    Raytrace - Time of day

I'm trying to do a raytrace, in different rooms of a house to show the light in the early morning, mid-day, and evening. I dont want to have "lighting" in the house turned on to illiuminate the scene, only the sunlight coming through the windows.

in my attempts so far, for the early morning scene, the interior is pitch black the the windows are bright due to the sun position (accurately placed based on site location). i can see the window reflections on the appliances inside the house but the room is black.

I dont do raytraces very often, something i'm doing wrong? I've tried adjusting the interior ambient in the 3D settings dbx. and the diffuse sunlight in the raytrace dbx. and the direct sunlight too, but perhaps i havent adjusted them enough.

    Any raytrace masters out there?

Do you want to use the stand-alone POVray?

am not a master yet... but we can tweak the scene there.

My understanding is that the 3D ambient light does not function in raytraces. So I think the only way around this problem is to set a couple of very low intensity invisible lights inside your scene.

This is an area where I think Kerkythea does a better job of bouncing sunlight around a room than POV-ray does. But it could be that I just don't know how to tweak the external POV-ray very well.

i think i got it work, by adding a generic "light" in the room at a low level, not casting shadows, it seemed to fix everything and now the sunlight is coming through better...
