I Tried to Change Stairwell Tread Direction but Need Help

I searched the forums and found that in order to change the direction of stairwell tread, I must copy, rotate and rename the material. I did this and it shows the desired rotation under the pattern view but the render view remains the same. (also, under Plan Materials the little picture below the pattern view remains the same)

So how do I get the tread to render in the desired orientaion.

Did you rotate the texture? PAtterns have nothing to do with rendering.
