Dimension Madness
Folks,
Is there a way to configure CA X1 to give you ONLY the dimension you ask for? All of the dimension tools seem to want to either a.) dimension everything in between the start and stop point of a dimension line, or, b.) dimension things beyond the dimension line end. I have attached an example of the first case. I want to dimension from a post to a wall in a basement. All of the dimension line types give me the mess in the attached picure.

Allen,
Point to point only works if you insert point markers first - correct?Rich C. SDSInc

Sorry
I did mean end to end.Point to point is a bad tool..
Leaves points that do not update the dimension if you edit things...........

Folks,
I have been using the approach mentioned above, turning off all the unneeded layers, then taking the dimension. This is OK early on, but when you get lots of content in the design, you end up spending lots of time in the layer control dbx. In this example, both the end to end and point to point behave the same, giving me all the dimensions in between and sometimes more. I think the CA software team should to take a look at this...
Again, Thank you for the help....

CG,
End to End is what I used on this screen shot. It dimensions only the post selected and skips the other.
Perhaps you could post the plan and others could give it a go.Kind Regards,
