Trimming/ Extending Framing
Does anyone out there know of a reliable method to make your framing trim and extend properly? ie: miter cut. Sometimes it does work, but alot of times I get square cuts instead. Sometimes it works to pull it out of the building, trim or extend it, then put it back, but that's alot of hassle. Or I can mess around with move to front etc, but again, a hassle. Any suggestions or some setting I don't know about?

I think Louis has a tutorial on that..

You can add extra joist to get the angle and then delete them...........

I don't want them to fillet though. That pic is the btm of a valley beam where it will bear on the beam below. I guess bevel cut would be better terminology. I might be able to get a workaround with the filet tool though.
If I draw framing members from the CAD menu, they always behave flawlessly. It's when I am editing my roof framing that I get the uncooperative rafters and beams. Like the angle cut at the bottom of a jack rafter etc.Last edited by Rusty; 11-12-2008 at 01:10 PM.

That's a good workaround and I hadn't thought of it before you said filet, so thank you. I think trim/extend used to work better back in version 9. Maybe in X2?
