It may not possible to diagnose your issue without posting the plan.

I don't think it's a matter so much of unpredictability, more a matter of understanding how Chief models things. Not saying my understanding is superior, only that I think your situation is likely predictable.

Personally, I can't see why anyone would even want a half post against a wall like that anyway. In every similar situation I have ever encountered, that post would be fully buried in the wall.

As far as the floor platform, the discrepancy could be easily altered in the views that matter like the elevations, sections, and floor framing plans.

But it would help I think to post the plan.

    Here is the V10 file.

There is another issue I am having that has me stumped.

I have not done stacked stairs before. I got a set of stairs up from the basement to the main floor, which has the staircase area called "open below" in plan.

The staircase plan for the second is also specified as "open below."

I have the stairs built, but everytime I try to place them in the staircase, they fall onto the stairs below, instead of staying at the correct elevation.

I have watched and re-watched all the training vids I have re stairs, and cannot find the way. What's up?

Try changing your railing wall type from the Default to a 4" Siding or something where the outer layers match that of the wall they abut. You may like how this works out better.

As I suspected, the deck is 17-1/2" lower than the adjacent floor, likely explaining to some extent how it is being modeled and viewed in 3D and how the half post is working there. Don't have a auto-generate solution for you there, but you can modify the framing manually so that the section/detail etc. will show properly.

For your stairs, draw them in place, don't draw them in another room and then try and move them into place.
