If you are using a concrete stem wall it will hold windows and doors provided you have programmed in enough "Z" axis (stem wall/basement ceiling) height for them to exist in.
What exactly have you done or trying to do and with what please?

Yes this is a pony wall with a concrete wall 7'6" high with a wood frame above. This is an interior wall. The cross section will show the door just right but the opening will not show in the plan view because only the wood frame wall shows I cannot get it to show the lower concrete Trombe wall and its details in the plan view

Unfortunately in Chief, you only have one global setting for showing windows/doors in plan view in a pony wall. Then it depends on the height and/or vertical location of the window/door and also where the dividing line of the pony wall is located vertically.
Go to Defaults/Wall/Pony Wall and there is a setting you can change there to show the upper or lower pony wall in plan. Play with the dividing line of the pony wall (move it up and down), height of the door, and vertical location of windows and see how it effects the plan view.

This is essentially what Bryce said in the previous post, but this screen shot should help clarify.
It is important to note that this must be done through the defaults, not the wall specification DBX. This DBX issue is confusing to say the least.

Thanks for clarifying that. You're right, that is a bit baffling. Tripped me up at first too.

Thanks I am working in version 10 which has does not have the option to show lower wall in plan view like your thumbnail shows. I should have my update to X1 in a few days and will check it out after that. I will respond when I can try that.
