Wall Alignment

I have 2 floors, 1st floor framed with brick verneer, 2nd floor framed with vinyle siding, how do I get the 2nd floor SIDING to line up with the face or the brick? When I use align with wall below, it lines up the framing layers.
If I set the brick face as dimension layer and the siding as dimension layer it still doesn't do what I want. What am I doing wrong? Do I just dimension the second floor bigger as if it were a cantilever?

Go to default settings, walls, general wall, resize about main layer outside

Thanks Rusty Tried that, the upper wall is still lining up with framing over framing. I just went to wall types, >define. made other layers of both wall types to build platform to outer layer(which worked...... sort of) but I also had to mark them as main layer. I want to keep the framing layers as main but align outer layer. Thats what makes me think I have to dimension the 2nd floor
4-1/2" bigger...... just like I would in reality.

That would be my guess also. Changing the framing to something other than the main layer would probably cause more problems than cure the alignment problem. Plus, now that I think of it, you would want the floor framing to extend out over the brick,,, yes?

If you dimension the first floor to the outer edge of the brick,you can then do a copy paste in place of the dimensions on the second floor and have points to snap the wall to..
Might be an easier way from some one that uses brick walls more..

Thanks Ray, I agree, it would cause more propblems. And yes I want the framing to extent out over the brick, just like in real world.

Hey Allen, Thats basiclly what I did, I created another floor (2nd floor, using the 1st as a template). Traced it with a polyline , offset it 4.5" and dragged my upper walls to corner intersections. I just hope they hold fast. Maybe I should hard dimension 2nd floor on a differant hidden layer to lock the walls in place.

Hmmmmmmm..... I see you what you mean. That used to work. It looks like the easiest way is to turn on your reference and let them snap to the outside layer.

Rusty.....Thats exactly what I did.worked just fine, after doing do, I dimensioned them in position, hilited each wall and set them with an overtype of the dims to lock them in place........rebooted the software and they stayed in place.....I'm happy.

Allen........Not me , no snow....Butler about 12 miles west got 6-8 inces.......High Point, NJ about an hour away got 14"......I'm not ready for that S$%^$ yet, even though I make money with it. And today is 70deg....go figure........
