    Electrical Outlets

How do I place an outlet on a garage ceiling to be used for a garage door opener?

You cannot place an outlet in the ceiling. All regular outlets must be placed on a wall, with one exception: if you look in the electrical library, you will find a 110 floor outlet. I just use this on the plan view, then label it as the ceiling outlet for the door opener. Of course, in a camera view, it will show up on the floor.

You can get other electric symbols in the middle of rooms by putting a wall there, then the symbol, then change wall to invisible. You have to have invisible walls unchecked in show items. Great for floating in air switches.

Another handy use of invisible walls/electric is for kitchen islands, if you want them to have electric outlets you drag a wall into a cabinet, place the outlet then make the wall invisible, lined up properly they show great in plan and 3-Ds.
