roof question...
OK, how can I use the auto-roof function if I have manually edited roof planes? I marked them as edited, nothing. Put them on another layer and locked, nothing. Seems like you need to know exactly what your going to do with this program sometimes cause once you go to far you can not get back and making on hte fly changes becomes impossible.

How come if I want to make a dormer that is a"full wall" dormer like the one shown here it NEVER works correctly. I can NEVER get trim boards on the corners and always end up with wierd little pieces of roof coming through everywhere.
I basically just place two side walls for dormer, then broke the outside wall and made it a full dormer. auto-roof and everything seems ok in plan but nooooooooo in 3D its garbage.
EEK!

cant always rely on the autobuild. i would delete the roof planes off the top of the dormer, and insert those manually.

Gotta agree with Ric. I almost always use manual roofs.
Then just use the transform/replicate tool, along with the roof DBX to get them where you want them.
Unfortunately the corner boards are not foolproof on dormers. Sometimes I use two polyline solids drawn in elevation view.Allen Brown
