Unusable elevations when copying and renaming plan.

I am using X-1. When I need to copy and rename a plan the elevations in the new version are always unusable and have to be redone. Does anyone know why? I don't remember having this problem with V-10. Thank you for taking time to reply.

It might help if you were to post a picture of the problem.

Butch, when you say they are unuseable, how do you mean?

Are you talking about in the layout sheets? Or do you mean when you try to open the camera views from plan?

I am talking about the creating the elevations from camera view. The elevation created when sent to layout comes in with trash coming through the roof which looks like beams.

Oh, That problem...Delete the camera view and create a new one. You may have to do it a couple of times. It is a bug.

I am having the same problem except that every time I create a new elevation/cross section view it comes out different. I try fixing it with cad, but by the time I have it fixed and move on to something else the cross section has somehow changed again in my layout. This problem is making me think that I wasted $2,000 on this program.

When you rename a plan you are destroying the link for that elevation view in layout.

The correct method is to do an export of the entire plan from within the layout.

Make sure you have the latest update. Under Help>About Chief Architect you should be using 11.5.4.17

This was a problem in early releases of X1 but should no longer occur. If you see it delete the camera and recreate it.

I have found a similar problem occuring with ceilings and attic walls penetrating the roof. It appears that they are trimming to the outer surface rather than the inner surface.

It does not happen consistently but it seems to be related to wall heights.
It is also more of a problem with legacy plans from older versions.

Next time it occurs I will send the file .

Thank you Dan Park for taking time to respond, I appreciate it. When you say to export entire plan from within layout are you saying to have the layout sheet open and export entire plan and rename? Will you not have the wrong name on the linked files? Thank you again.
