"General Structural Notes/Specs"
I am looking for a source for construction document specifications, general notes etc. for residential. I am trying to avoid having to compose and type lengthy general specifications and the like.
Any direction would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Tom

It may be coming, that is, codes on line that can be downloaded and pasted into layout. You can get cd's already, but check out this site, it may be what your looking for: http://www.intlcode.org/

Spec's
Tom, I write my own on a word processor and change it for each plan. There is no easy way to get it right each time with out working at it.
My current set of spec.’s is about 15 pages and includes decorating selects but I'm trying to shorten it. I'm currently bidding against another builder "on a home I designed" who only uses about 4 pages.
I have seen spec.'s that look like books.
IMO keep the spec.'s simple and put as much info on the plan as possible. The more that's on the plans the closer the bids have to be and that's better for customer and the builder as subs can't charge for extras if "it's on the plans".
Spec.'s are just more paper to pass around.David Eastman
