    Elevation Line

When I select elevation lines and lay them down, I select a line (elevation line) and open the dbx, usually I get to where I can set the elevation. However in this file for whatever reason, when I select the elevation line I'm getting a regular line dbx???????????what gives. or what am I doing wrong that I would normally do in all my other plans. Which where the correct elevation line dbx come up and I'm able to set it's elevation.
I almost forgot to mention, If I convert a plain line to a terrain elevation line the correct dbx comes up........

attached is a jpg of the dbx that opens after selecting an Elevation line.

    Thanks for any help.

    - Are you selecting number style to change to decimal feet and bearings - if that is the elevation line readings you are missing.

I still think Cliff has the answer. Here is what I think may have happened. You placed an elevation line with Edit Object Parts active. (easily done) Now this "elevation line" is just a plain line but you think it is an elevation line. Turning off Edit Object Parts at this point will not change the line, you must now delete this line and make a new elevation line.

HI Allen, a rush deck job, no biggy. It's pouring here at the shore so I figure I do a little work. Yes the terrain is built, see attatched, I have to raise the grade 20 inches behind retaining wall and along back wall......red lines.
I can send you the file if you want. Whats wierd, I got it to work yesterday, deleted the terrain and when I recreated it, elevation lines aren't working. But yesterdat I was on my office computer, today I'm on my laptop. So it is probabl a setting I can't find.

    Thanks Allen.

Bob, I thought of that, so I shut off all layers except terrain data and all cad line layers.......deleted all terrain elevation lines, data points and any lines that may have converted. I also noticed a funny thing, If I draw a regular line, convert it to terrain line, rebuild terrain, it changes back to a regular line. with or with edit object parts enabled or disabled.
Thanks, I'm confidant with everybody's help we'll figure it out.

I just for the heck of it tried something, I copied in place the terrain perimeter from level one to level 2, deleted level 1 perimeter, moved level 2 back to level 1 and now terrain lines are working (elevation dbx) ???? don't know what this means but as long as it works....would be nice to know though.

So I got the elevation close enough for government work and I know the stairs are using the lower floor (blue arrow) for it's calculations. I need it to recognize the sidewalk/platform (red arrow) 20" above lower floor. Do I set the terrain default 20" higher anf sink the lower floor area? Or?????

    Thanks again for any help.

    Hi Doug
I would use a platform right where you want it,maybe 1/16" lower and use the same material(cement) for it..
Take the (D) out of the height..
Someone else suggested this not to long ago..Seems like a good way..
