working with CAD tools
I am trying to create a shower base that would combine a half circle with a slab so that I end up with a shower base that is 33" wide and deep. I cannot find a way to unite objects into a one piece unit that can be colored. This is not a corner unit, but a stand-alone in a bathroom. HELP!

How about using one slab and arch one end?

I did try that, the problem is that the slab gives only an arc, if you try to stretch it out, the whole slab becomes distorted. The shower bases offered in the library do not give me what I need, so I thought there would be a way to create this using CAD tools.

There is a way.
What is the shape you want?

Slab.
Radius tool. (You have to select the appropriate radius to give a rounded end, such as 24" for something 48" across, but there's some play available here, such as a 48" square, radius to 24" and then shrunk to 33".)
Round off two corners.
Stretch, pull as needed.
Does this make it?
