Material eyedropper, material painter and custom countertop tool doesn't work

I was at a customers house earlier, did a few material changes infront of her, everything worked fine. ..packed up, came home...now the material painter , material eyedropper and the custom counter top tool doesn't work at all. I'm not sure what else doesn't work since that's all I'm using at the moment.

I tried different plans, thinking that there might be a problem with only with this plan but every plan has the same problem.

I had trouble once before with the material eyedropper when I installed an earlier update but it seemed to correct itself and have not had a problem.

Why would I have trouble like these only a few hours later?

    (I rebooted as well)

Pat I tried to do different things last night to see if I could get eyedropper etc not to work; sometimes if I was in a different layer set they would not work at first but then they seemed to kick in at different times you might check your layers are unlocked just guessing (Good thing it worked in front of your client) maybe today will be better for both of us my elevations when printing are giving me fits sent to tech support they have not figured it out either. Maybe our computer gobblins left over night ;wish I could of (have) helped more!!
    Have a good day. Don
Is your mouse working ok in different programs?
    Low battery on laptop?
    Still just guessing.
Maybe you need to put your boots on and give it a good swift kick

I think Glen has a good suggestion; the eyedropper seems to work in all edit / edit behavors except alt.

Glenn, YOU'RE A GENIUS !!!! That's exactly what it was!! I did send my plan into support and they couldn't duplicate my problem. They need to know about this unless Chief is programmed intentionally this way. I wouldn't know why it would be though.

Thanks a bunch Allen, Don and Glenn.

I'm glad I didn't have to put on my boots and give it a swift kick

There are many commands that do not work when Alt edit mode is toggled on.
I am trying to get into the habit of using the right click method of temporarily using Alt edit mode instead of using the icon toggle.

Thank you for posting this thread. I experienced the problem with the Eyedropper tool not working correctly, and you've saved me from having to post a new thread myself. I'm not even sure how I got into the Alternate Edit Behavior, but that was the problem.

I don't know about you Catherine, but I swear there are spooks in my computer that takes over when I'm not looking.
