    Attic wall problem X1.5.4

I still have a problem with an attic wall situation that didn't exist in 10. In a lot of plans where you have a brick wall and a siding gable wall above, I need to to move the siding gable attic wall out so that the siding extends out past the brick. This was never a problem in 10. In X1, if you move the attic (siding) wall out more than 2", it disappears. If you try to move it in an elevation, it messes up. If then you try to reset the default height and bottom, it shows the default being reset but not in the elevation. This means I'm back to Cliff's workaround of making a thicker attic wall so that the siding of the gable wall extends out past the brick below.

This is one of the attic wall problems I've also experienced in X1. I haven't tried it in X1.5.4. If it's still a problem, please send it in. You'll be doing us all a favor by putting a fresh example in front of them.

Wendy, I guess I'll send it in but really a plan file is not needed. I can duplicate this all day by just building a gable with brick at the bottom and a siding gable wall at the top and then try to move it (siding gable wall) out as mentioned.

Do you have to send a plan file to tech support?

Oh well, I guess I'll send a plan file.

    Hi Tommy
You don't have to send a plan but it is easier for them if it is created ahead of time so they don't have to.Test plan is OK.

Try unchecking "attic wall"I got that to work but couldn't adjust the bottom height.

Deleting the attic wall and drawing a new one without checking attic wall works to and can be adjusted for height.

I didn't try this more than a time or two,so might not work all the time..

That did seem to work Allen by unchecking attic wall. It really is an attic wall though so I feel it is still an attic wall bug. Thank you.

I tried this in 10 to see how much better it was.

In 10 you can offset the wall easily using the wall offset handle.

But if you leave it an attic wall you get a triangular gap between the lower wall and the attic wall.

Unchecking the attic wall option does not completely fix this scenario unless you uncheck default wall bottom height.

    X1 -

Set the resize about to outer surface.

Now change the wall type from brick to siding, it automagically aligns with the outside of the brick.

You still need to uncheck attic wall and fiddle with the wall bottom height to get it to look right though.

    or...

Draw in a new wall - it will snap to the outer surface if you have the reference layer on and have set the resize about.

Drag the bottom edge down (I think this is annoying)

    -------

In my opinion X1 is about the same amount or slightly less work. We definitly need to look at this scenario closer.

    Your welcome
Might not work exactly how you want, but the work has to get out to get paid..
I would rather have a workable solution than wait till it works the other way..

    I agree Allen.

Thanks Dan. At least I know there's a way to make it work.

From some post, not every one agrees with us.

Draw likes it's built in real life and don't fight the program..
