    Allowable Angles

Is there a way to override the "within a 1/2 degree" angle message when setting allowable angles. I don't care what chief wants to do if I need to be within .2 degree that's what I want.

Sorry, I know better. I'm using X1.4 It just seems that a program for designing homes should be able to be set at all of the basic roof pitches without greef. Ex. 5/12, 6/12, 7/12 etc.

You can use "input line" to directly enter distance and angle, or you can modify an existing line by changing its length and/or angle. Either method will override the allowed angle constraints.

You probably all know this but if you don't...

If you want to set a line at a specific slope, say 6 in 12, then type it in that way. It will automatically parse the text [ 6 in 12 ] excluding the brackets to 26.565051 degrees.

You can also change the angle display to pitch if you prefer to read it that way.

Need it to go the other way type in -6 in 12 .....

Dan, You mean I can type the pitch into the allowable angle box instead of a degree?

So long as it's not within a 1/2 degree of another allowed angle.

But that brings me back to my original problem. I needed to do extensive cad drawing at a 7/12 pitch so I wanted to set the initial 30.25644 degree setting ( and the neg. ) Having to set each line after you draw it is very time consuming to get that 1/4 degree over the programed 30. Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining I just wanted to know if I could override that 1/2 degree warning.

Once you have one line in the drawing at the correct angle, it is about as fast (faster, once you get the hang of it) to copy, multiple copy, or copy/reflect, as it is to draw new lines-- especially in cases when you have to enter the exact angle.

Unfortunately the program was designed to allow certain angles popular in plans. This limitation, I suspect, is the result of thinking that 1/2 degree is too hard to distinguish on screen. I don't really know why we settled on the system we have but it's been a source of compliant for many years.

I have added another report to our database for this specific issue.
