I was being sarcastic, I agree with you. We had a few debates on the subject and I am pleased with the outcome. The other "school of thought" got their way too (i.e. by default).

I know, I was thinking it should be off when installed.

Hi Louis
I am interested in your statement - "Not if you always work from the plan!".
I have always worked from the layout for one major reason - if elevations and sections are opened from the plan - with the layout not open - there is no prompt to update the layout. Even this process can be thwarted if the layout is closed before the elevation at the end of a session.
I would like to see the prompt every time a a 3D view is closed regardless of whether the layout is open or not.
With the layer set names now remaining linked to the layout things will work a lot better but it means I may have change my entrenched way of working.Gordon Martinsen

Gordon,
I guess it depends on how one wants to work. I can't remember ever not having elevations updated.
We have a system where we work from plan all the time. The plan (all our sets) must be exactly like we want them to look in the layout. The plan and the layout must always match exactly. If you follow this everything stays in line.

Gordon, I can assure you that Louis's way of handling layouts and layer sets is very good and a trouble free way of doing it. Many people will disagree, but we don't ever have the same trouble that many people have. As long as your file management is good you'll have no problems.
