Automatic scaling of text may work for some things. Room labels are a good example. It wouldn't work well for cases where the location of text relative to other text or objects is important.

I think it would be great to have some kind of feature that automatically sets all the text in a layout to a certain scale. For example, if I have a 1/4" drawing on the same page as a 1/2" drawing- I do not want to have to go into the drawing and adjust the scale of the text to two different heights. I would like to highlight those drawings in layout view and choose 1/8" high text for both.

This is what happens when you double the size of text in a detail..
If you transform/replicate the whole thing,it is just like changing the scale and doesn't help...........
