    Problem with bearing distance input

    I have 26 plot plans that must be done by morning. When I attempt to input any bearing less than 1 degree (such as S00d00'14") the resulting closed polyline will not recognize anything other than 90 degree lines. HELP!!!!!

    Do you have autocad?

    The only way that I've ever gotten this to work at that precision was to use absolute angles, and even then I have to re-enter the the angle in the line specification after it is drawn.

    When you encounter a line w/ a bearing/degree of less than one degree, you have to lock the start of the line & reenter the bearing/angle in the line dbx before you move on to the next line. Be sure to display the length & angle & you will see the angle hold.
    Not a good thing, but there's the workaround.

    Thx. EBDesign. I have not tried your "work around" yet this morning since I only got 2 hours of shuteye. However, I think I understand your solution. If I have additional difficulty, I'll contact you.

    EBDesign (Jim) was the only one who not only understood the problem, but posted a solution. Jim's method works, however, in applying with that solution, I made an interesting discovery. If, instead of inputting lines, simply enter ponts by distance and bearing (any bearing including those less than one degree) snap lines between points and the bearing will hold. Much quicker and dead accurate.
