Tree Size Proportional?
Here in the NW we have lots of Douglas Fir trees.
Everything looks fine in 10, but in X1, it's not correct proportionally.
(Short and Stubby)
Could someone with both 10 & X1 see if they also have this issue.
In the Library the tree is an Evergreen and is called Abies.
Edit: I'm sorry, was I supposed to start this thread in 'Symbols & Content'?
I included pics.Last edited by Berdinkerdickle; 03-24-2008 at 08:06 PM.

I show the same thing. Not sure how to fix it, as there seems to be no way to unconstrain the proportions. Sorry, I just don't work with the 2D plants much but I do show the same issue in V10 vs X1.

Yea, I've even tried opening one of my 10 plans where everything looks good, and the tree still changes to the mis-proportioned one.
Douglas Firs don't look this in Oregon, and I would guess they don't in Idaho either.
Dear Chief, could you please fix this in a update patch for X1.
I know there are bigger issues than a tree, but it is hurting my Renderings that I use for promotional purposes.
Thanks,

I've noticed the same thing. Do you have a good image editing application? The image can be stretched a bit, saved as a custom library image, and made to work-- if you really have to have it now.

Can you save a plan with it in 10 and then open with X1 and add it to your library?
I placed a shrub today that was taller than the house..Must have been from Texas,,.........

If you notice in the pics I attached in my first post, the tree preview is correct in both 10 and X1.
It's after you place it in an X1 plan that it goes wrong proportionally.
I even opened a 10 drawing that looks great, it just goes bad in X1.
Edit, I just re-read your post.
Whether It is the tree from 10 or X1, once it's placed in the plan it goes wrong.Last edited by Berdinkerdickle; 03-25-2008 at 11:04 AM.

Warren was so kind to send me a modified Doug Fir, stretched vertically so that it would look correct in my renders.
However, I can't get the Transparency correct.
When I have some more time I will look into how I can get the Doug Fir to look correct.
This is obviously an oversight on Chiefs part in releasing X1, and should be a pretty simple fix. (perhaps in 11.4.1.8 or next Update)
The question I have; is how do we get this to the attention of Chief?

Robert,
Please turn it in to Chief's support. Just go to Online Support and send them pics and a plan file, everything you can to document your problem. There are some little annoying glitches on X1 that a lot of people are just working around it but I for one like things that work.

Robert,
Use white for custom transparency color, with a tolerance of ~8%. Remember that you will need to take a fresh camera shot each time you modify the transparency settings, as they don't seem to auto refresh.
Please do take the time to turn in a bug report. I find it hard to believe that they don't know about this already, but I expect they will be more likely to fix it if they realize that there are users who need this to work.Warren Hirsch

I saved them in a plan from 10 and then opened it in X1 and the plants come out the same as in 10..
Middle one was the X1 tree...........

Here's the reply I just got back from support:
Robert,
This is a known problem that we have tried to fix, but it looks like we may have missed 1 or 2 instances. I will pass this case onto our development so that is can hopefully be fixed in the future.
To resolve this issue for now what you can do is select the plant and open its specifications. In the plant specifications dialog copy the text in the Image File field. Then click the browse button and browse to any other image on your computer, then click OK. Now select the plant again and open its specification dialog, paste the information you copied back into the Image File field and click OK. The image should now display with the correct aspect ratio.
ThanksRobert B.
