    very nice allen

I still have the drywall cap on the sloped wall
however I lose the drywall cap if the wall is too steep. I now put stone on the wall and it wraps over the top of the wall (unlike Allen's) Allen, are you using a sloped handrail or is that a wall? If it is a wall can you change the slope of the wall a bit so your stone wraps over the top?

Scott, move your walls tight to the stairs, open them and change to solid railing. They will sense the stairs.
    Nice work Allen.
Just to experiment I did one using a terrain feature. Could have been better but I only used 3 elevation points. Might be a solution if you had something really funky.

Rob, great idea with the terrain feature... thanks for the tip. But let me throw this at you... suppose you wanted the top of your stone wall 12" above tread nosing, you still need another 30" of rail ht..... how would you get the rail to sit ON TOP of the wall. Would you do another stair with the handrail, surface delete all but the rail, convert the left over rail to a symbol and use that? Or is there a much easier solution.

I think you have it Scott. Sounds like a lot but it really wouldn't take that long. I'm really liking this X1.4 with its 3 click (ok maybe 4) symbol creator. Although it wouldn't surprise me if someone comes up with another variation. The 2 Allens seem to be right on top of this stuff and with a little practice Louis might even get on to it too.

    Rob,

There are no symbols in my example, just a wall and a stair. If I were doing a round one like this I would convert the railing wall to a symbol and let the balusters do their own thing.
