"Build Roof" chief deletes manually built rafters

I did auto roof framing. Then I manually edited some rafters and placed them as open beams sloping down over the porch. When I build roof framing again, the beams are deleted even if I put them on a separate layer. Any ideas how to keep them from being deleted when reframing? Thanks a Lot. Bob L

Did you lock the new layer?

Thanks Louis. Yeah I locked the layer but it didn't make any difference. I guess you tested it also. Thanks. I will just be careful not to rebuild roof framing again. I hope CA folks will put it on their list. I hope you could let them know in case they don't read this post. Bob.

Even though they are on a separate layer they are still regarded as roof framing by the program. One solution would be to copy those rafters to a blank plan (paste/hold position) then bring them back in the same way (paste/hold position) when you are finished with the roof framing. Or you could use "convert to symbol" (new in x1.4) and bring them back that way.

    Or you could block them

When the beams are blocked, they are not visible in vector view. Does this mean that I must explode them for viewing in vector view, and if I rebuild the roof framing again, I must remember to block them again before re-framing in order to keep them from being deleted, or am I missing something? Thanks
